Little Travellers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Little Travellers" are beautiful, personable, and unique beaded pins that are made by women affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, as part of an income-generation project of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre. Little Travellers are sold for $5 (though larger donations are always gratefully accepted), with absolutely all of that amount going to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the communities of The Valley of a Thousand Hills in South Africa - part of it goes to pay the crafters, enabling them to earn a living to support their families; and the remainder to the Hillcrest AIDS Centre to help fund their home-based care program and respite unit.
Little Travellers is a project of the Simunye Initiative. For more information, visit littletravellers.net.
