Lowercase i prefix
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The lowercase i prefix is a common prefix used to refer to products developed by Apple, Inc. It was popularized after the release of the iMac. The most famous example of a product that bears its name with the lowercase i prefix is the iPod. This prefix is also a rampant exception to the rules of English grammar as both proper nouns and first letters of sentences are usually capital although the second letter after the lowercase "i" is capitalized.
[edit] Known flaws with this concept
Many pieces of software can automatically capitalize the first letters in sentences typed on the computer. For instance, Microsoft Word can automatically render iPod to be "IPod". Also, in the early days when Wikipedia displayed information about its articles, it automatically capitalized the first letters of articles, and had to give a warning template in articles; however, Javascript has been implemented into newer versions of the Wikimedia web software to render smaller letters at the beginning of the sentences.
