Lucy Davis (born 2 January 1973) is an English actress. She is best known for playing the character Dawn Tinsley in the BBC comedy, The Office.
Davis played Maria Lucas in the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice. She has also appeared in the films Sex Lives of the Potato Men (2004), had a role in Shaun of the Dead (2004), and played Hayley Jordan in The Archers on BBC Radio 4. She gave up the latter role when her other acting responsibilities made it impossible to continue; the part was recast in September 2005.
She was reportedly offered a role in In Her Shoes that eventually went to Toni Collette, Davis apparently refused the role as the part involved being Cameron Diaz's on screen 'fat, ugly' sister. [1]
In 2006, Davis appeared as the 'Fashion TV' host on ABC's hit Ugly Betty. During the 2006-2007 season, she has played a British comedy writer on NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

[edit] Personal life
She is the daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott.
Davis attended The Sixth Form College in Solihull, West Midlands.
In 1997 she underwent a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with kidney failure during a physical leading up to her role in Pride & Prejudice. The kidney was donated by her mother, Hazel. [2]. Around Christmas 2005 she was hospitalized once again due to kidney failure, but has since recovered. Davis is also a diabetic. [3]
On 9 December 2006, Davis married fellow actor Owain Yeoman at St Paul's Cathedral, London. The wedding was attended by fellow The Office stars, Mackenzie Crook, Martin Freeman, Ewen Macintosh, Joel Beckett and co-writer and co-director Steve Merchant. The wedding was also attended by Jenna Fischer, who plays Lucy's counterpart on the American version of The Office. Davis and Yeoman were permitted to marry there as her father, Jasper Carrott, was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours in 2002.[4]
