Ma'on

Ma'on (Hebrew: מעון) is an Israeli settlement in the Judean Hills of the West Bank, located south of the city of Hebron and north of Beersheba. It is part of the Har Hebron Regional Council. The settlement was first established in 1981 as a paramilitary outpost. The first civilian population, members of the Orthodox Zionist youth movement Bnei Akiva settled there in 1982. The settlement is named for the biblical town of the same name, which was apparently situated in the close vicinity of the modern village.
