Mad Truckers is a freeware casual racing arcade that runs under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and all editions of Windows 2000, XP and Vista. The game requires only 300 MHz Pentium processor and 64M RAM to be played.
It was written by Media Contact LLC and released on 21st December, 2006, as a freeware game.
The main difference of Mad Truckers from a common racing arcade is a number of economic elements, along with nice 3D graphics and outstanding sound providing lots of attraction within a classic linear campaign gameplay. Another good thing about the campaign missions is they are really different (and requiring different strategy), but united with a storyline, giving a bonus to general immersion.

[edit] Campaign
This is a basic story mode, inviting you to take place of an ambitious young guy who decided to pick up the trucking business inherited from his uncle, and to face dangers of the road and the mean rival, owning a shady transport company of the region.
[edit] Workshop
Every time before you start a mission run, check the upgrades available in workshop. Here you can select a paint job for your truck and buy some handy equipment and armor to make the trip safer.
- Paint job. You can select one of twelve schemes available. It’s for free, and the selected scheme will be applied to your truck immediately.
- Wheel protection. You can upgrade it four times, making your truck more proof to the damages made by bullets and fences. Very useful when you’re about to encounter an army of light-armed vehicles. The following improvements are available:
- Automatic suction pump. Provides light wheel protection (damage reduced by 10%). Costs $2000.
- Big automatic suction pump. Provides advanced wheel protection (damage reduced by 25%). Costs $5000.
- Wheel protectors. Provide heavy protection of wheels (damage reduced by 50%). Cost $10 000.
- Duplicate armored transmission. Provides the ultimate wheel protection (damage reduced by 75%). Costs $20 000.
- Fire protection, having four levels of upgrade, makes your truck more resistible to explosions and flames. Very useful when the road is heavily mined or when you’re attacked by some heavy enemies throwing explosive barrels at you. Here are the gadgets that make your truck fire-proof:
- Armored glass. Provides light fire protection (fire damage reduced by 10%). Costs $2000.
- Reinforced suspension. Provides medium fire protection (fire damage reduced by 25%). Costs $5000.
- Active motion stabilizer. Provides good fire protection (fire damage reduced by 50%). Costs $10 000.
- Active armor. Gives the ultimate fire protection. (fire damage reduced by 75%). Costs $20 000.
- Impact protection. A good thing when you can’t drive too well, or when you have to drive in rush hour traffic. Has the following four levels of improvement:
- Double contour of stiffness. Provides a basic protection for collisions (damage from potholes, off-road debris etc. reduced by 10%). Costs $2000.
- Reinforced frame. Provides an advanced collision protection (damage from potholes, off-road debris etc. reduced by 25%). Costs $5000.
- Compensator. Provides good protection from collisions (damage from potholes, off-road debris etc. reduced by 50%). Costs $10 000.
- Stabilization system. Provides the ultimate collision protection (damage from potholes, off-road debris etc. reduced by 75%). Costs $20 000.
Remember that for each new mission you can rearrange your truck’s protection for further exclusive needs. In order to do that, first you need to sell all upgrades by selecting the corresponding option in Workshop menu, and then, after you’re completely refunded, buy a new set of them, that suits more for the mission to follow.
[edit] General tips
- You can use your trailer to disarm mines or smash cars – no harm will be done to you.
- If you see no obstacles at the middle of the road, drive at the very middle – it’s the safest area.
- Always keep your enemies behind you. They all are almost harmless there.
- If you can’t pass a mission, try replaying a few previous ones. You can do it as many times as you need to buy some extra bonuses (or even all of them).
[edit] Training (Survival)
This mode is an open-ended “free ride”. Driving a truck with no upgrades, you have to get as far as you can, surviving attacks of various types of enemies. As you get further, the road becomes more and more dangerous. The further you get, the higher your score.
[edit] Dangers
There are two kinds of dangers on the road: static and moving (enemies and traffic). Static obstacles:
- Pothole. A basic obstacle, crack in asphalt making your truck shudder and lose health. Potholes are not that dangerous when there’s not too much of them.
- Fence. A roadwork caution barrier. Can be found on roads being in a very bad state. Very similar to a pothole.
- Mine. A dangerous object, harmful and hard to spot. Better be careful when the road is mined.
- Barrel. A barrel of explosives, even more powerful than mine, but much more visible, which doesn’t make it less dangerous though.
[edit] Enemies and traffic
- Traffic cars. In small numbers, they are not a problem, but when the traffic is heavy, you have to watch yourself. Don’t be shy to kick them around with your trailer.
- Gangster blue car. A car packed with armed bad guys. It moves fast and really dangerous, if you don’t have a bullet-proof armor. Thankfully, it’s easy to smash.
- Gangster red car. An armored car carrying grenades. Much more dangerous than the blue one, and better armored as well.
- Armored van. Throws explosive barrels. A very dangerous car heavily armored and armed.
- Dump truck. A heavy, but relatively harmless vehicle. Has no weapons except for its weight.
