Marc Haynes

Marc Haynes is an English comedy writer and currently the associate producer and writer on the Richard Bacon XFM drivetime show, broadcast Monday to Friday, 4-7pm on XFM London.

Marc Haynes was born on the 5th April 1976, and brought up in London. He studied English at the University of Leeds before winning the 1998 edition of The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards for stand-up comedy, the finals of which also featured Stephen Merchant, Dan Antopolski and Hal Cruttenden. Despite a brief tour of universities, he gave up performing almost immediately, although it's not clear why.
He moved into television through the cable channel Carlton Digital, presenting a two hour reviews show. His other TV work included Masterclass on .tv and Channel 5's Exclusive! opposite Tess Daly.
His writing credits include the first series of Dead Ringers and The Consultants on BBC Radio 4, the Aardman-produced CITV sketch show Planet Sketch (he created the character of Dr. Inosaur) and the BBC Radio 4 sitcom Clement doesn't live here anymore.
He is best known for his role as the sidekick / associate producer on radio shows presented by Richard Bacon. Haynes was the sidekick on Bacon's first XFM run, stayed with Bacon to do the drivetime show (aka The Go Home Show) on Capital Radio and returned to XFM with Bacon in August 2006.

Marc would generally eat food that was out of date. He says, using a food packet he found in his mothers cupboard (dated best before 1998) as an example; "A good rule of thumb is that if someone could have been born and can now dress themselves since the food went out of date, it is probably best not to eat it."
