Marie-Geneviève Bouliard, French painter, born Paris, 1763; died Saône-et-Loire, 1825. Was primarily a portraitists.[1]

Her Aspasia is the only surviving classical painting. It waas exhibited in the 1795 Paris Salon where it received a Prix d'Encouragement. Notice Pericles bust in the bacground, The mirror might suggest a self introspection. The bare breast can interpreted as erotic as Aspasia was a courtesan or as an Amazon warrior indicative of strength.
