I'd have to disagree with both of you. It certainly was the case that in the past the MCC was the real power base for world cricket. But following the formation of the ICC it really has now got no power on the international stage. And as for power on the national stage, that is limited to having the ECB on its premsises, but I think that it is fair to say that the MCC does not interfere in their business. The only power the club holds now on the world level is that of the copyright to the Laws of Cricket, and any changes to them need to be passed by a 2/3 majority of the membership.--Wisden17 19:34, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tours and Matches
There really should be some info about games that the MCC has played - either tours, or other info. I know MCC games frequently come up in cricketing records, so some mention of notable games or tours might be in order? For instance as of Feb 2006 the MCC are going on tour to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. I know Wikipedia isn't a news service, but some mention of games that have been played (or people that have played) over the past few hundred years might be in order! Gavinio
