Matthew Gardner (born in 1981 in Reno, Nevada) is an American author and columnist who gained a degree of fame in the online community for his critical reports of various professional wrestling events. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and has been enjoying the sports entertainment business for over twenty years.
In 1998 Gardner began writing his reviews on wrestling websites. His columns are aimed mainly at self-described "smarks". Over a period of eight years, Gardner reviewed a large variety of wrestling shows, covering the major North American wrestling promotions. His writings have included weekly accounts of television programs such as WWE RAW, WWE SmackDown!, WWE Byte This!, WCW Monday Nitro and TNA Impact!, as well as various pay-per-view events such as WrestleMania 21 and Taboo Tuesday.
Gardner originally freelanced for various Internet websites before joining the SLAM! Wrestling at CANOE site in 1998. In 2004 Gardner penned a number of wrestling columns for his hometown newspaper The Coeur d Alene Press and in 2005 began writing two weekly wrestling columns for Inside Pulse, including his very popular Gospel of Wrestling column.
