Melaniejane

melaniejane (Melanie Jane) is a musician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Her studies began from an early age when she took up cello to perform in a string trio with her two sisters, Christine and Heather. Since those days she has expanded her palatte of instrumentation to include guitar, piano, accordion and voice. Music runs in her father's side of the family in that her grandfather was a Timpanist and her uncle an accomplished pianist who was once a soloist with the Chicago Symphony. Aside from two albums which were released on Alice Records in 2002 and 2004, she has appeared as a studio musician on several other albums from smaller, self-produced indie releases (some of which have received placement on popular television shows) to international releases such as Victor DeLorenzo's (of the Violent Femmes) Pancake Day (1996) and The Blessed Faustina (1999). She has also toured with Sigmund Snopek III (keyboardist for the Violent Femmes) and Dick Parry (saxophonist from Pink Floyd). At last check, melaniejane continues to perform as a one-woman show (voice, guitar, cello and piano) as well as part of the Racine Symphony (on cello). Her music has been featured on National Public Radio's popular program Car Talk as well as on Wisconsin Public Radio.
