The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is a government agency in the U.S. state of Michigan.

The first State Highway Department was created on July 1, 1905. Michigan was home to the nation's first mile of concrete pavement, first synchronized traffic signal, and first snowplow.

The Department provides subsidies to Amtrak Michigan Services operations in the state for the Blue Water and the Pere Marquette lines.[1][2]
