[edit] Trafficking
The article currently says "Leslie is best known ... for her 2005 arrest for alleged drug trafficking in Bali." I can't find any source for a drug trafficking charge: [1] for example seems to be saying that the charge is "possessing psychotropic drugs". Changing the article to match this understanding. [edit] She deserves what she gets
Anyone stupid enough to follow the example of Schapelle Corby and bring contraband into a non-extraditing a pretty damn crime fighting country deserves to suffer. Two ecstasy pills - and her own stupidity - has basically ruined her life. An inhabitant of Indonesia would receive the death penalty for these crimes, thus, instead of acting like the Indonesians are so barbaric for their punishments - let us not ignore her and Corby's ignorance in regard to their crimes. Personally, I believe the Indonesian government would be justified in just killing them - that is what happens when a citizen of that country does crimes such as Leslie's, so they should be no different. Besides, she'll be a waste of tax money in a supposed "third world" country for fifteen years - to me, Indonesia is doing Australia a favor by setting examples for idiots. Either you don't go there or don't bring drugs there, the choice is pretty simple. In addition, I think all the publicity the Bali Nine, Leslie and Corby are getting is biased and racist - no one apparently cares about native Indonesias, Thais, Malays and etc. suffering and rotting in prisons in their fatherlands for similar crimes. Why then, should I care about some Australian people who do it and get in trouble? Molotov (talk) 18:21, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- I guess this is a real life example of Brokedown Palace. We are talking about doing dumb s**t in Indonesia - a nation where kissing in public is punishable by five years in prison; and masturbation is (you guessed it) punishable by decapitation (I am pretty sure they would stop). Thus, these people don't want the drugs in their nation - and they are extremely serious about it. Instead of bashing the supposed "barbarity" of what Indonesian officials are doing - we should embrace it. Similar punishments should be set for rapists, murderers and robbers in the Western world. With urban decay and augmenting crime, obviously a deterrent is needed. All taxes should be thrown out of the prisons -e.g. prisoners can work for themselves, feed themselves, clothe themselves [and if not can starve to death as far as I am concerned]- and put into medical care and education. Maybe a public execution or two will stop morons like these from destroying society.Molotov (talk)

- Too much talk of masturbating and losing your head. Yow! - Ta bu shi da yu 02:54, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Errm...okay??--Cyberjunkie | Talk 03:14, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
It's not that. I suppose I'm just used to seeing talk pages used to improve articles, rather than to rant. :) Still, you're entitled to your opinion.--Cyberjunkie | Talk 04:45, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

- Well damn, I could see you telling me I am "ranting" if I added this POV statement to the article itself - I just put what I thought. And I do think I have already helped to improve the article - the only reason the pictures probably looked so weird is because I use the "CologneBlue" skin style under my preferences - pictures will look different. Should it be noted that Islam does not explicitly require the wearing of headgear? Andjam 22:09, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sentencing and release
I found this article on the front page of Google News... it sounded interesting and... I think content from it should be added since... well, there is really no need for her to pretend to be a Muslim still? So, it seems to be useful follow up information. gren グレン 23:27, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- vowing to continue practising her chosen faith with or without a burqa. Good grief, has South Australia turned into Saudi Arabia? She has to wear a burqa to count as a fair dinkum Muslim??? Claiming that Michelle is not a Muslim is POV, not fact. Andjam 00:23, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Her Status as Muslim?
Is Leslie still a Muslim or was her conversion 100% circumstantial. If she has changed her mind, does that make her an apostate or does that means she is an "ex-muslim" like Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Please let me know here or on my talk page what you think. V. Joe 07:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- In Islam ex-muslims are apostates. (see: Apostasy in Islam)--Greasysteve13 00:25, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- She never converted in the first place, so she never was a Muslim, hence not a apostate.Nokhodi 08:07, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
