Michael Wayne Green (born December 6, 1976 in Ruston, LA) is a NFL safety/cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks. Green attended college at Northwestern State and was the last player drafted in the 2000 NFL Draft, a spot which earns the drafted player the dubious distinction of "Mr. Irrelevant." It should be noted, however that he is one of only two Mr. Irrelevants (Jim Finn, NY Giants) who were starting players as of the 2005-2006 season.[citation needed]
Green played for the Chicago Bears from 2000 to 2005 and was acquired by the Seahawks in April, 2006. His starting status with the Seahawks has not been determined at this time. Despite being the last player in the NFL Draft, Green emerged as one of the dominant defensive backs in the League alongside his former teammate Mike Brown. Green was featured on ESPN's Jacked Up segment several times.
On August 26, 2006 Mike Green suffered a Lisfranc (Midfoot) Fracture, a possibly career ending injury. He was placed on the Seattle Seahawks injury reserve list. Green will not be playing in the 2006-2007 season.
