[edit] About Me
Hi! I'm Michael Oswald, 31 years old, living in Braunschweig, Germany. Currently, I am working as a project scientist in the field of Astronautics. My main research topic is orbital debris, some may call it space junk. There, I am dealing with radar and optical observations of objects in orbit, detection performance modelling for all kinds of sensors, and modelling of the space debris environment of the Earth. I am the project manager for the ESA MASTER space debris environment model.
Besides my work, I do a lot of travelling. My camera, a Canon Powershot G3, is always with me. Some of the pictures that I have taken during my travels are now available in Wikimedia commons, under public domain, of course. Most of my contributions to Wikipedia are related to things other than my job. I am also keen on the history of the 20th century. The latter is what actually drew me to Wikipedia about 2 years ago. I was positively surprised by the unmatched depth of information provided in articles like Battle of Normandy, World War II, and many more. I realized that this is the winning concept for creating and maintaining a comprehensive encyclopedia.
For some reason, many of my trips have led me to the United States, and I have also lived there for some time. I got to know that country and its people pretty well.
