The Route 3 is a decommissioned highway in Missouri. It was one of the original 1922 Missouri highways. Its northern terminus was at the Iowa state line north of Princeton; its souther terminus was at the Arkansas state line south of Hollister. When the U.S. Highway System was created in 1926 it became, along with Route 71, U.S. Highway 65. The section between Preston and Springfield is now part of Route 64 and various Missouri supplemental routes.
When US 65 was first laid out, the section between Ozark and Branson was multiplexed with U.S. Highway 160 and later moved to the east. The old Missouri 3 followed the current US 160 and Route 248.
