Mitchell Devastation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mitchell Devastation is a four-piece British rock band based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Their style of music has been described as a modern take on classic rock, characterised by straightforward 4/4 structures and twin lead guitar solos. Mitchell Devastation began life in 2005, performing under the name Dirty Pretty Things. This led to some small controversy when Carl Barât formerly of The Libertines announced that he intended to name his new band Dirty Pretty Things after the various club nights he had been running around London.
Mitchell Devastation's name is a pun on the Hampshire village of Micheldever, which has a railway station located on the main line between Southampton and London, a common route for musicians and rock fans from Salisbury gigging in the capital, hence Micheldever Station.
The band is formed of Russell Parsons on vocals and bass, who once appeared performing a Robbie Williams song on the Granada TV show Stars in Their Eyes, Drew Shipsey, (formerly of One Mile Standstill) on drums, with Paul Fields (ex-Spankboy/Solabeat Alliance) and producer and sound engineer Geoff Swan sharing lead guitar duties.
