Mogens Lykketoft

Mogens Lykketoft [⁽ˈ⁾mɔ(:)ʊns ˈløg̊əˌtˢʌfd̥] Mogens Lykketoft, born January 9th 1946 in Copenhagen, son of paint dealer Axel Lykketoft and Martha Lykketoft. He was born January 9, 1946 in Copenhagen). In December 2002 he succeeded former Danish prime minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen as leader of the Social Democratic party (Socialdemokraterne).
In the Cabinets of Poul Nyrup Rasmussen I, II, III and IV which governed from 1993 to 2001, he held positions as Finance Minister and Foreign Minister.
After losing the 2005 Danish parliamentary election he resigned as leader of his party.

Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, 2002-2005. The Social Democratic Party's economic and political affairs spokesman and finance policy spokesman, 1988-1991, political spokesman, 1991-1993 and 2001-02. Member of such bodies as the Income Tax Committee, 1975-1977 and the Board of Assessors, 1976-1981 and 1984-1993. Chairman of the Folketing's Fiscal Affairs Committee, 1984-1986, of the Folketing's Trade and Industry Committee, 1987-1988, and of the Folketing's Economic and Political Affairs Committee, 1988-1990.
Member of Public Accounts Committee, 2006-
The Social Democratic Party's candidate in Glostrup nomination district from 1989 and in Amager nomination district from 1980-1989.
Education and profession
MA (political science), University of Copenhagen, 1971. Matriculated in mathematics from Frederiksberg Upper Secondary School, 1964.
Head of department at the Economic Council of the Labour Movement, 1975 - 1981. Employee at the Economic Council of the Labour Movement from 1966. Over the years, secretary of the Danish Federation of Trade Unions' economic democracy and taxation committee, and the "white paper committee" on housing policy.
Affiliations
Member of the management committee of the Social Democratic student association Frit Forum (Free Forum), 1965-1970, national chairman, 1968-1969. Many posts within the party since 1965.

(Tax Reform '78?), 1978. - Co-author of such works as "Anno 2001 – en socialdemokratisk science fiction" (Anno 2001 – Social Democratic Science Fiction), 1986. - Author of "Sans og samling – en socialdemokratisk krønike" (Sense and Cohesion – A Social Democratic Chronicle), 1994. - Author of "Den danske model - en europæisk succeshistorie" (The Danish Model - a european succes), 2006 - “Kina” a book about China, co-author together with Mrs. Mette Holm, Gyldendals Forlag 2006.
