[edit] Irish names
I'm curious about your decision to move O'Siochfhradha to Ó Siochfhradha. I don't consider myself an expert, but I think its more common to use an O' instead of Ó in an Irish name.

- It's only more common because it's more common to use the Anglified form of the name. O'Sugrue would be fine, but it just looks wrong to use an apostrophe with the Irish form of the name - it's misleading (i.e. there's no abbreviation happening) and a misspelling since the O needs it's accent. I'm sure some people do use apostrophes with Irish forms of names, but it shouldn't be encouraged.
- Of course, if it was his choice to spell it that way, it would be right to honour that, but I very much doubt it was.

The [o:] is meant to be the same IPA character i.e. o with a length symbol afterwards. The Australian value of the vowel in 'born', 'sawn' is higher than [O:], closer to [o:]. The vowel in 'gone' has the same *quality* as 'Ron', but the same *quantity* as 'born'. Helps? --Kesuari 12:34, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Arabic)
Greetings! Since you recently contributed to Arabic transliteration, I thought you might be interested in the following project: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Arabic). It's designed to create standards for Arabic transliteration to use on Wikipedia, to make it easier for users to find articles consistently. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 15:02, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
