[edit] A shocking error

It is shocking to see that Sir M.V.'s birthday is mentioned as 28th August. This error symbolises all that is wrong with Wikipedia and with us, unthinking persons, who accept the written word without query. Someone has even posted a query above asking when we started celebrating 15th Sept. as "Engineer's Day"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder who the Admin of this article is. He should hang his head in shame.

The date of birth is actually 15th September Prksh1 09:01, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Telugu?

It's highly improbable that a family that migrated to modern Karnataka and lived there for three centuries could be termed as a "telugu family". Can some provide proof that the family actually spoke telugu after all this time in what is today Karnataka and that Sir Visvesvariah spoke telugu while being the Diwan of Mysore. - Dinesh Kannambadi.

Hi Dinesh, It goes without saying that Sir MV's command over Kannada was excellent, and that he yielded to none in love for that language. However, he spoke Telugu at home his whole life; I can affirm this from personal sources -- also, please refer to The Mulukanadu Community for information on the community and their language. The List of Diwans of Mysore may also be of interest, in exemplifying the eclectic manner in which Mysore attracted and accepted talent from every quarter. I dont care what your personal sources are. they are immaterial, irrelavant and useless to Wikipedia. keep your great original research for yourself. prove to me that he spoke telugu at home. He even used to sign in kannada. And the mulukanadu community cannot be termed telugus by any stretch of imagination. karnataka has a large population of mulukanadu smartha brahmins too and all of them are kannadigas. Even if we were to assume for a moment that MulukanaDu brahmins were originally telugu speaking 300-400 years ago, all that is immaterial. It is like calling most muslims and christians in india as hindus because their ancestors at some point in time may have been hindu. All that matters is what they are identified as today.

Further, even if we again assume again for a moment that MulukanaDu brahmins were telugu, do you have any references to cite which say M.V's family spoke telugu at home? Provide references or I shall remove that statement.

Millions of the descendents of Telugu people who migrated to Tamil and Kannada regions in medieval times still speak Telugu at home even today. It is unfortunate that a few persons cannot tolerate the very mention of historical ancestry of such people. It shows how much chauvanistic and fanatical certain persons have become and are trying to distory history on Wiki pages.Kumarrao 07:52, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
