Mooloo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term Mooloo is a common nickname in New Zealand for things pertaining to the Waikato region, most particularly the Waikato Rugby Team and its supporters, though it is likely that the term's use for the region in general pre-dates its use specifically for the rugby team.
The origin of the term is obscure, but it almost certainly relates to the fertile dairy lands of the Waikato Plains, and the cow which is often seen as a symbol of the region. The Waikato Rugby Team uses a pantomime cow, appropriately named "Mooloo", as its mascot.
