Mount Elgon National Park

Mount Elgon National Park is one of several national parks of Kenya.
Notable geographic features of this park include Mount Elgon, Kitum Cave, and Turkwel River. Recent technical studies have confirmed that salt-mining elephants and other mammals are major contributors to the development of the unique Mt. Elgon Caves.

- Parts of the book The Hot Zone take place within Mount Elgon National Park. Kitum Cave is also a setting in the story.
- H. Rider Haggarts' well-known novel 'King Solomons Mines' is believed to have been inspired by the Mt Elgon Caves.
