Namazu

Namazu (鯰) is a giant catfish that causes earthquakes in Japanese mythology. Namazu lives in the mud beneath the earth, and is guarded by the god Kashima who restrains the fish with a stone. When Kashima lets his guard fall, Namazu thrashes about, causing violent earthquakes.
The Pokémon Whiscash is based off Namazu.
Namazu was the name of an English language Japanese anarchist magazine which appeared 1978 - 1980.
Namazu is also the name of a free search engine software.
