After a fairly large amount of research, including attempts to discover the copyright holder of these images i have decided that it is appropriate to use them on wikipedia under the fair use tag. My reasoning is as follows. 1. The use is for non-commercial, educational purposes. 2. The pictures show works of art that I believe no longer exist, that is to say, the art and architecture no longer exist. These are the only images that I have discovered of these works. 3. The images used represent a small portion of the contents of the two books involved. 4. I believe that these images in the original have no commercial value that will be impacted.
The two books are:
- Rittich, Werner, Architektur und Bauplastik der Gegenwart, published by Rembrandt-Verlag G.M.B.H., Berlin, 1938
- A Nation Builds: Contemporary German Architecture, published by the German Library of Information, New York, NY, 1940

This image is of a drawing, painting, print, or other two-dimensional work of art, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the artist who produced the image, the person who commissioned the work, or the heirs thereof. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of works of art
- for critical commentary on
- the work in question,
- the artistic genre or technique of the work of art or
- the school to which the artist belongs

To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
is the best tag that I could find. PLEASE contact me if you plan on deleting this image. Carptrash 20:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
