Nearside streetcar

The Nearside Car is an American type of tramcar that was invented by the president of the governing board Council of Philadelphia Rapid Transit (PRT): Thomas E. Mitten. It was the basis for one man service and must be seen as a preamble of the Peter Witt Car. By the Nearside Car the term P.A.Y.E. in the US was introduced: ` Pay as you enter.
