Nevada State College is a four-year public university located in Henderson, Nevada and is part of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). The college opened on September 3, 2002 and is built on a 600 acre (2.4 kmĀ²) site in the southern foothills of Henderson. Nevada State College is one of the newest four-year colleges in the United States and was built to respond to expanding educational needs in the Henderson area, which (as of 2004) is the fastest growing city in the U.S.
Nevada State College provides baccalaureate degrees in biology, business, economics, English, environmental science, history, integrated studies, mathematics, nursing, psychology, public administration - law enforcement, speech pathology, teacher preparation, and visual media (digital film special effects, computer animation, and video game development).
Nevada State College does not currently offer any athletic programs but has the ability to add them in the future. The school's colors are black and gold and its nickname is the Scorpions.
