New Avenue School (NAS) is a K-8 co-ed private school located in Monterey Park, California.

There are about 20 students in each class. Classes include Mathematics, English, Literature, History, and Science. Extra classes include Art, P.E., Spanish, Music, and Computer. 5th-8th Grade classes also have Drama classes.

New Avenue School's students are required to wear uniforms throughout the whole year. About 90 percent of the students are Asian decent.The students have different schedules and different classes.

Although some people believe New Ave School is a good bargain, many graduates say that the quality of New Avenue School's academics may be deteriorating. It has been known that New Avenue School's strong point is math. New Avenue School does not offer a decent English class, especially in the middle school. If you choose to enroll in this school, you should transfer out during 4th or 5th grade, because that is when the quality of the academics start getting worse. "This school is becoming a bad school. Most teachers in the upper grades quit. Teachers there teach very bad. They try to make money out of everything. The level the kids learn here is the same as the level the public schools. Parents reading this should save their money and let their children go to a public school. Students there cuss and it is a bad influence to the younger kids. My child had been there for 2 years and she didnt like it. She said 'people here cuss more then people in public schools.' Students in the upper grade bully each other too. They become mean to the 'unpopular' people. I don't suggust parents to let their children go to this school."
Also, New Avenue School does not offer many extracurricular activities aside from Chinese class etc...
New Avenue School is not worth its price.

In the end of the year, award ceremonies are held and trophies are given out. Awards include Principal's award (straight A's throughout the entire year), Perfect Attendance award, Science Fair award, Speech Meet award, and the Spelling Bee Award. The Chinese Speech Meet and Talent Show are optional. ( Every Child in the Kindergarten-3rd grade can receive a ribbon called top banana which shows that he child has shown good citizenship. If the child get a top banana every single month of the school year, she/he can also earn a citizenship trophy at the end of the year.

New Avenue School teaches grades Preschool to 8th grade. Grades 3-8 have to change from class to class and grades 4th-8th have lockers.

New Avenue School has an after-school program with Teacher Aids who help grade papers and watch children after school. The principal at New Avenue is very experienced.

NAS also provides bake sales to raise money for a play performed by the 5th through 8th graders. Book Fairs are also held for the children. This will help make a good donation for our school activities.

- In 2007, a couple of students from NAS participated in the reality game show "1 vs. 100" on NBC.
