Route 95 is a 14 km (9 mile) highway connecting the northern terminus of Interstate 95 at the Canada-United States border near Houlton, Maine to Route 2 (the Trans-Canada Highway) in Woodstock, New Brunswick, hence the number. Originally built as a two-lane road, Route 95 is in the process of being upgraded to a four-lane divided expressway much like its US counterpart. The divided portion is expected to be open by November 1, 2007.
Route 95 was built in 1976 to replace the aging former Route 5 (now Route 555) as the main road between Woodstock and the border.
