New York's 20th congressional district

The 20th Congressional District of New York is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in eastern New York. It includes all or parts of Columbia, Dutchess, Delaware, Essex, Greene, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. It includes the cities of Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs. This largely rural district stretches to include parts of the Adirondacks, Catskills and Hudson Valley.
District 20 is currently represented by Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.

The present 20th District is the successor to the 22nd District in the 1990s. During the 1980s this area was the 24th District. It was the 29th District during the 1970s.
The 20th District prior to 1980 was based in Manhattan. It later was based in Westchester County in areas presently in the 18th District. During the 1990s it was based in Orange and Rockland Counties. That district was dismantled in the 2002 reapportionment.

Note that in New York State electoral politics there are numerous minor parties at various points on the political spectrum. Certain parties will invariably endorse either the Republican or Democratic candidate for every office, hence the state electoral results contain both the party votes, and the final candidate votes (Listed as "Recap").
