The 1957 National Football League championship game was the 25th annual championship game. The NFL title game was held on December 29, 1957 at Briggs Stadium, Detroit, Michigan. The game was the fourth pairing of the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns in the championship game. The Lions have not won a championship since, and in fact have only won one playoff game.
The Browns had won the Eastern Conference with a record of 9-2-1 , while the Lions had to play a playoff game against San Francisco 49ers the week earlier. The Lions were without injured quarterback Bobby Layne.
