This article describes a bus line of the Maryland Transit Administration. Information provided here is derived from old schedules and other archived resources.
The no. 98 line is a shuttle bus line operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore, Maryland. It is also known as the Hampden Shuttle Bug. The line is unlike most other MTA bus lines, as it operates in a short, mostly circular route, contained to the Hampden area. Its layover is at the Woodberry Light Rail Stop. The line operates on portions of the route also covered by the nos. 22 and 27 lines.
Some of the differences the no. 98 has from other MTA buses include:
- Its fare is reduced. It is $1.00 rather than the $1.60 charged on regular buses. MTA passes are accepted as well.
- Its schedule is printed in full color, rather than the monochrome design of most printed schedules.
- Shorter buses are used.
- It is uniquely identified by a ladybug.

The no. 98 line started operating in 2000 as an experiment conducted by MTA to provide a new type of service. At that time, service operated every 17 minutes in order to match light rail frequencies. However, it was later reduced to one bus every 34 minutes.
[edit] Threat to eliminate and proposed route change
In 2005, as part of the Greater Baltimore Bus Initiative, a comprehensive overhaul plan for the region's transit system, it was initially proposed that the no. 98 line would be eliminated due to low ridership. However, after community meetings, it was ultimately decided that the no. 98 line would continue operating with no schedule change.
In 2006, MTA proposed that service on the no. 98 line would shift from Falls Road to Roland Avenue in order to replace service on a part of the no. 27 line that would no longer be provided on that line.
