North Karelia (constituency)

North Karelia (formerly Kuopio East) is a constituency represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). It covers the administrative region of North Karelia, with a population of 169,722 (as of 2002). North Karelia currently elects seven members of the Eduskunta.
The constituency is largely rural, centred around the city of Joensuu. The largest party in the 2003 election was the Centre Party.
