From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think this should be combined with the Jawad Maliki thread? the are about the same person. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cyaxeres (talk • contribs) 14:14, April 22, 2006 (UTC)
- I cannot find another article under Jawad Maliki or any other name. Please give more precise information of an existing article if you know of one. Perhaps you mean the article Jawad al-Maliki named Iraqi prime minister at our sister project, Wikinews? --Dhartung | Talk 06:54, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- He means Jawad maliki [1] (sic; note it now redirects to the correct spelling), which, interestingly enough, gives his year of birth as 1946. Can anyone confirm whether it was indeed 1946 or 1950, the BBC's estimate??? Jared Preston 08:48, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1946
I can't find a reference to a 1946 birth date online, so I removed it. His birth year appears to be uncertain to journalists; it looks like "c. 1950" is good enough for now. His hometown is right between Karbala and Hilla which may explain the confusion about birthplace. --Cam 16:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Restored Juan Cole's assesment on Maliki, his article provides lots of valuable info on the syubject Occuserpens 20:49, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sources
There are plenty of sources listed at the bottom of the article. Which statements exactly are not sourced? AndrewRT 22:34, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image/Photo
There is an image of Maliki (being sworn in, I guess) at the top of the article. Can that item be checked off the list, or should there be more images? -Fsotrain09 20:39, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
I've checked it off AndrewRT 20:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Religion info should be removed
I don't think it's appropriate mentioning the religion of this man in his info box, since such a thing can't be considered a fact. AshrafSS 11:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it can. If the man professes to be a Shi'a Muslim and practices it, then he is a Shi'a Muslim. Supadawg (talk • contribs) 23:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Removed terrorist statement
couldn't find any evidence on this and it seems to me this addition is POV or even vandalism we should be careful of staining peoples reputations without proof, It looks like redneck POV: "if its got a beard and its a terrorist"Komaknacon 17:19, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it's vandalism although I would question the relevence & neutrality - I've heard the line before about Dawa and it's discussed in more detail in the article Islamic Dawa Party. Dawa clearly was involved in terrorism against Saddam - just like the African National Congress was - but I haven't seen any specific link between al-Maliki and terrorism. I would prefer to keep it out on that basis AndrewRT(Talk) 19:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
agreed.Komaknacon 11:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- Members of the Daawa party are being investigated by the U.S. government for terrorism right now. It is not POV or vandalism. Blanking sentences out - what you did - is considered vandalism. Lft6771 05:02, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

- I presume you are referring to this story which relates to the 1993 Kuwaiti embasy bombing by Dawa. How is this personally linked to al-Maliki? It is relevant to Dawa which is why it is mentioned in that article. AndrewRT(Talk) 22:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Secret letter from Maliki
This is copy of a recently found secret letter from Maliki to Muqtada Sadr and Iranian embassy in Baghdad, in which he suggests that heads of Sadr Militias take refuge in Iran for a temporarily period in order to not be arrested or killed by Americans (in their new campaign agaist terrotists), and not lose current positions they already got. http://www.peyamner.com/filesbank/img/200207035424.JPG
But I dont know how to reflect this in the article. Varmalo 14:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Just cleaned up
I am not a wiki fan, but vandalism I hate even more. Just took off "infidel Shiite" from the name of the guy next to his photo.
