[edit] Current Projects
I have finished playing with a list of Islands organized by name. Fun with flags and geography!
I have finished a project to create pages for every Member of Congress from Pennsylvania. I'm currently performing a quality review. I hate those dang General ticket districts.
[edit] As to my thinking on the topic:
All of these guys (and I will use the term guys since all but six are men) deserve an article, but don't deserve very much. Being elected to congress does mean you contribute at least a few drops to the river of American History, but more often than not they are just drops (drips for those inclined to pun). But every so often, you do come across an individual of interest, someone who deserves to have a little more time and energy invested. These are the people whose biographies hint at a greater story. Some examples (I should consider this a future research list) include Henry H. Bingham, John P. Saylor, Daniel J. Flood, Henry Burk, Robert L. Coffey, John V. Creely and Charles N. Brumm. I also think that, taken as an whole, they provide a compelling summary of the history of Pennsylvania, through their ethnic backgrounds, employment, activities, and education.
I am fascinated by the differences in eras. As one slight example, Mial, Sobieski, Glenni, Ner, and Galusha are all given names that appear in the 1800's that seem highly unusual to me. But then again a certain number of people in politics seem to always have unusual names (ask Steny, Orrin, Zell, and Saxby).
Finally, there is the satisfying beauty of seeing a table filled with red slowly but surely turn all to blue by the work of your own busy little fingers. The visual result of this work reminds me of Tetris, which was similiarly addictive. Perhaps someone with a background in psychology can comment.
