NWA Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The NWA Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship was the major championship in the National Wrestling Alliance member promotion NWA Great Lakes, and represented the states of Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The championship lasted from 1997 through 2002. The title was originally known as the SMCW Heavyweight Championship when Southern Michigan Championship Wrestling opened in 1997, then the NWA Michigan Heavyweight Championship when SMCW joined the NWA and became NWA of Michigan. Finally, in 2000, the title's name changed for the final time when NWA of Michigan became NWA Great Lakes.
