"Cold Comfort" is an episode from the third season of X-Men: The Animated Series. It originally aired on February 25, 1995.
The scene begins with an airplane when a green and orange spacecraft heads its way, disrupting the balance of the airplane. The airplane flies off without any incidents, but the green and orange spacecrafts are battling each other.
In the early morning, Storm and Cyclops are up as they receive a call from Shi'ar Intergalactic Patrol. The officer calling them says that he needs help pursuing a criminal vessel and he doesn't understand why the vessel flew half way across the galaxy. Once Cyclops and Storm save him from the sinking ship, Cyclops discovers that Corsair is the criminal. Corsair asks for the dog tags as that is the only thing left of his family. Cyclops welcomely gives them back but also discovers that in the dog tag is a picture of him with his brother and mother.
Corsair realises that Cyclops is his son, but Cyclops is yet to be convinced. The Shi'ar ask Cyclops to hand Corsair over, but Cyclops refuses because he needs to figure this out first. The Shi'ar aren't happy about that and release small attack ships so all three escape while Storm creates some cover. Cyclops opens up a secret hatch and all three go inside. All three get into the tram, and while inside, Cyclops and Corsair are amongst each other. Meanwhile, the Shi'ar do a scan of the place and find them, using their weapons to try and destroy them. They make their way onto the Blackbird and Corsair decides to tell what has happened in the 20 years in which they have not spoken to.
It cuts to a flashback, 20 years ago, when they were flying home from a camping trip. A starcraft had come over them and began firing upon them. They only had one parachute. He put it on Cyclops and strapped his younger brother Alex to it. The parachute had opened, but it had caught on fire. Before the plane exploded, Corsair and his wife were transported the attacker's ship and they were used as slaves. They escaped the ship and formed a rebellion called the Starjammers. Corsair's wife was killed before his eyes.
Then, the Shi'ar cruiser catches up to them and the Blackbird does an emergency landing, and escape into the forest but the cruiser fires on them, releasing more small attack ships. They defeat the small attack ships, but the Shi'ar patroller tells him that Corsair is keeping a witness that could help find treasure, and that Corsair only wants the treasure to himself. Corsair tells Cyclops that he cares for the witness, but also needs a money to maintain his ship and its fuel.
Cyclops is confused, and turns Corsair in as his prisoner. Corsair is trying to convince Cyclops that these police officers are in fact corrupt and that he is trying to save the witness. Storm almost finds the location of the witness, but are attacked by the Starjammers. They have taken Storm prisoner. Just as Cyclops is about to help, the Shi'ar patroller stuns Cyclops. Just then, the Shi'ar patroller admits to Lord Chamberlin hiring him to dispose of the witness.
Then, one of the Shi'ar pilots shows Cyclops a log of what will happen in the three days in the future. On the television screen, there is the witness, dead. The Shi'ar pilot had hired Corsair in hoping that justice will prevail. Cyclops then realises he made a huge mistake in helping the corrupt Shi'ar. Cyclops, Corsair and the Shi'ar pilot escape with the Shi'ar ship behind them.
Corsair leads the Shi'ar into a trap, getting the Shi'ar to fire upon him as he ducks under a defence mechanism which would absorb the laser's power and return it the ship. The ship is set on fire and crashes to the floor while the crew escapes. The witness is also safe. Cyclops invites Corsair to stay for a while in hope to clear things up, and he accepts.
