Overpelt is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1, 2006 Overpelt had a total population of 13,435. The total area is 40.85 km² which gives a population density of 329 inhabitants per km². Overpelt is an industrial town with large industrial estate concentrating largely on metal processing.
The current mayor is Jaak Fransen.
