Fran Lebowitz is a great writer and could be elevated to Jewish sainthood simply for her comment on the innovation of the orange on the seder plate: "What is that supposed to represent? Florida?" (probably a slightly inaccurate quote but it's close)
Ira Levin and Patricia Highsmith for light reading, both write excellent mainstream suspense
Bob Black is the writer we all wish we could be.
