Peter Hopkirk

Peter Hopkirk, born December 15, 1930, in Nottingham, England is a British journalist and author. He worked for ITV news as a reporter and The Times newspaper as a foreign affairs specialist and latterly as chief reporter.
His books include:

- Setting the East Ablaze, 1984.
- The Great Game: The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia, Kodansha International (New York), 1992.
- Like Hidden Fire, Kodansha, 1995. (Also published as On Secret Service East of Constantinople).
- Quest for Kim: In Search of Kipling's Great Game, Oxford University Press (New York), 1997.
His wife, Kathleen, published The Traveller's Companion to Central Asia (1994), which is an invaluable aid for understanding many of the cities described in his books.
