[edit] Introduction and background
Hi, my name is Dan Adams. I live in Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire, UK. I am 27 years old, and have been reading wikipedia since 2004. I have been editing wikipedia since October 2006. My first edit on wikipedia was to drastically overhaul the article on my hometown, Pocklington, adding lots of historical info. I am married, with no children (yet) but two cats. I have one younger brother, who lives in Dallas, USA, having emigrated there originally to study at the University of North Texas. I tend to flit between jobs, not having found out yet what it is I plan to do. I have a batchelors degree in Politics and Philosophy, as well as a Masters degree in Computer Science. I am an atheist.
[edit] Current tasks
[edit] Manual edits
I am currently working on the tree of articles under the Military of ancient Rome. My aim is to bring all the main articles up to at least 'B' class and, more specifically, to bring to featured status the four articles on Rome's military history that I splintered from the previous "military history of ancient Rome" article:
[edit] Wikipedia Bots
PockBot - a wikipedia bot currently approved for operation. It produces a list of article statuses for all articles within a given category.
PocKleanBot - a wikipedia bot currently voluntarily withdrawn due to the concerns of some editors. It was meant to help reduce the backlog of 18,000 articles flagged as requiring cleanup.
DeleteAsstBot - a wikipedia bot currently voluntarily withdrawn due to the concerns of some editors. The idea was to provide a wizard interface to processes such as the AFD (Article for Deletion) nomination process.
SystematicSpellBot - a wikipedia bot currently being planned. The idea is to catch obvious systematic (common) spelling errors (not all typos) and edit to correct them. There is a lengthy discussion in progress to iron out details prior to requesting approval.
