Template talk:Prettytable-center2
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Created using Template:Prettytable. I created this because everytime I used Prettytable, I couldn't center it. Template:Prettytable-center doesn't center it in the center, but more on the right. Could be used differently.
Usage is same as discussed in Template talk:Prettytable

[edit] Replacement by class wikitable
This template can be replaced by replacing {{prettytable-center2}} by
class="wikitable" align="center"
This was changed this way in the template. However user WB reverted it, claiming it does not work. In my test it works fine. Can user WB explain why he sees that makes him conclude it does not work? −Woodstone 00:53, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- I said it did not work because instead of making the table go on the center, it only centered the contents. Sorry for the late reply. -- WB 06:37, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Let's do a small test. For me the following table shows centered on the page, with text in cells not centered:
class="wikitable" align="center"
a | aaaaa |
bbbbb | b |
And the following has centered cells, but is left on the page:
class="wikitable" style="text-align: center"
a | aaaaa |
bbbbb | b |
Can you tell me what you see in those cases, so we can clear up the situation? −Woodstone 10:33, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- I was just looking at this using Firefox. But on Opera and IE, the first one seems to be centered. I do not know whether it's a problem with this particular version – 1.0.7 – or is it just Firefox itself. I would prefer the one using the stylesheets, but if it is not compatible with Firefox, I would not recommend so. What's your opinion on this? -- WB 08:35, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
- Not that it's a big deal for me, but since the creator was looking for feedback, here's my feedback: it doesn't center for me, either. Probably a firefox thing, as WB suggested; I'm on firefox 1.0.4.0. --Qirex 05:40, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
- Wow. I wasn't thinking of this, but you could just use the margin function and no gigantic coding. I'll replace it with this (
class="wikitable" style="margin:auto;"
) now. -- WB 18:44, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
