Proprietary hardware
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Proprietary hardware is a piece of hardware which has purposely had hardware compatibility restrictions placed upon it by its vendor in order to execute a vendor lock-in; for example, if company A's motherboard uses a proprietary Accelerated Graphics Port, then only company A's AGP graphics card will work on their motherboards.
