Quazal Technologies Inc. is a private company founded in 1998. The company is being backed by several investors, including Collar Capital, Fondaction, Caisse de Dépôt du Québec, Banque de Développement du Canada as well as some angels.

Quazal is made up from two words: "Quetzalcóatl", the featured serpent god that created mankind according to Mesoamericans and "Quasar", which represents massive and celestial objects, emitting exceptionally large amount of energy.
