Talk:Río San Juan (department)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rio San Juan, is Nicaragua's second longest river, after El Rio Coco which is in the extreme north of the country. The river is aproximatley 120 miles long. The river is known for having crocodiles, and sharks (bull sharks). It starts at Lake Nicaragua and empties out into the Caribean sea. There are disputes with Costa Rica over the navigation on the river, even though the river lies within the Nicaraguan territory, its southern shores are Costa Rica's northern border. A canal was to be built using the river and the lake, however problems with Costa Rica impede the construction of the canal.
