Read It and Weep, previously titled How My Private, Personal Journal Became A Bestseller is a Disney Channel Original Movie which premiered on July 21, 2006. It is the 66th DCOM and is based on the novel by Julia DeVillers. It follows the life of Jamie Bartlett, a socially suffocated girl, after she accidentally turns her personal, private, journal in as a school project and it ends up becoming a national bestseller. Sisters Kay Panabaker and Danielle Panabaker star as Jamie Bartlett and her alter ego Is. Both sisters have starred in previous DCOMS, Kay in Life is Ruff, and Danielle in Stuck in the Suburbs.

IS is an imaginary character/alter ego created by Jamie Bartlett. Where Jamie is quiet, reserved, and caring, IS is blunt, irrational, snappy, and mean. IS and Jamie have a rival in the evil Myrna, often accompanied by her rude group of power-seeking lackeys. IS possesses magical powers, which she often utilizes to control Jamie and the people around her. However, when she is printing her essay about making break and lunch more efficient, she gets distracted and accidentally prints her journal. It turns out that her essay wins a contest and gets published in the Education Times. She becomes a celebrity and her essay its on its way to becoming a national bestseller. Things become good for her. Her parents pizza parlor is getting lots of business, she has a handler controlling her schedule and gets to go on tours, talk shows and backstage parties and even becomes Marco Vega's girlfriend.
While on the Rise-n-Shine talk show, she accidentally reveals that the characters in her book are based on real characters (especially Sawyer Sullivan who is evil Myrna). At school, she is confronted by the student body, who is forced to run away from the crowd. Jamie threatens to get rid of IS forvever, but IS warns that if Jamie gets rid of her, she will lose her fame and her parents might have to close their pizza parlor. Soon, she loses her friends (except for Connor), nobody speaks to her and her parents decide to sell the pizza parlor.

- This movie was released on DVD January 16, 2007.
- Julia DeVillers, the author of the book from which the movie was made, has a cameo in a pizza parlor scene.
- It was filmed at Murray High School in Murray, and also in Salt Lake City, Utah, which is where High School Musical was filmed. Nick Whitaker was also in High School Musical, where he plays the tone-deaf auditioner Alan.
- In the book, Jamie has an older sister, Allie; instead, in the movie she has an older brother Lenny, who plays the guitar and sings. Allie was also one of Jamie's online friends in the movie.
- Nick Whitaker performs the song I Will Be Around at the Deep Blue Sea Dance.
- Jordan Pruitt was considered for the role of Jamie Bartlett, but they liked Jordan so much they had her make a music video for the movie.
- Read It and Weep premiered on Disney Channel Asia on October 8, 2006, on the Family Channel on November 17, 2006, and on Disney Channel UK on March 9, 2007.
- It got 5.4 million viewers during its first airing on Disney. Currently ranking it as the seventh highest viewed DCOM. [1]
- The song played during a party scene (sung by Drew Seeley) was played during another party scene in another DCOM, The Cheetah Girls 2.
- Jamie shows fairly clear signs of schizophrenia.

- In the movie, Sawyer has short brown hair; in the book, she has long blonde hair.
- In the book, Harmony lives part-time in the city, and part-time in the suburbs. In the movie she lives in one place.
- In the movie, Lindsay has dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes.
- In the book, Harmony has dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes. In the movie, she has light skin, green eyes, and red hair.
- In the movie, Connor's last name is Kennedy; in the book his last name is Griffin.
- In the book, Jamie didn't kiss Connor.
- In the book,Jamie has a sister named Allie ,but in the movie she has a brother named Lenny.
- In the book, Jamie calls her story "IS", but in the movie, she calls it, "IS Saves the World".
- In the book, Jamie's high school is Whitaker High, but in the movie, her school is Murray High.
- In the movie, there was a school dance with an underwater theme. In the book, there isn't.
- In the book, Jamie dumps Marco because she thought he was annoying when he would only talk about cars. In the movie, she dumps him because she found out that he didn't write the poem.
