[edit] Plot summary
While Red is working on the car Bob approaches him telling him there's a Price Mart opening in town and its threatening to put him out of business. Red sees that they are hiring and applies for a supervisor position. Eric suggests that he go and try to get a job there too, but Red tells him that he can't work and needs to just focus on school so he can go to college and move away. At his interview Ted offers Red a cashier's job, but Red turns it down asking only for management. At home Red is focuses on the phone waiting to hear from Price Mart when it finally rings and he hears that Eric got a job at Price Mart. After hearing that Eric got the job Donna is happy for him and encourages him to keep it. Red tells Eric to quit, but Eric stands up to him telling him that he always tells him not to back down. Kitty encourages him to fight for the management job and not settle even if he's been out of work for 6 months. Red goes back to Price Mart and Ted hands him a smock for the cashier's job, but after looking at it and thinking about how Eric didn't give in, he hands it back and again states that he is here only for the supervisor job. Red comes home and goes straight to the bar making everyone concerned, but he reveals that he did get the job and he is Price Mart's newest supervisor. He tells Eric he's fired, Eric protests, so Red tells him if his grades slip then he will be fired. The next day Red & Eric go to work together.
Kelso & Laurie are in the van again and Kelso's ready to do it, but Laurie just wants to talk saying that she feels like a huge failure being that all her friends are away at school and she is here. Kelso falls asleep while she's talking and wakes up saying he agrees with everything she said hoping she'll shut up. She then asks him if they can have a relationship, but Kelso tells her he just wants a sexual relationship with her. In the circle Kelso is complaining about Laurie and mentions that ideally having two girlfriends was supposed to be just fooling around. Kelso tries hiding from Laurie but she finds him and asks him to look at her eighth grade diary. Kelso tries to stand up to tell her that he really just likes to only fool around with her, so they need to break their relationship. Laurie warns him that if he does break it she will tell Jackie about them, so he gives in afraid he'll lose Jackie. Later he's seated between Jackie and Laurie and they are criticizing him for goofing around and not getting a job, far from what he was ideal for him.
