It's quite funny that two whole paragraphs about D&D ends with the line
"The Red Wizards of Thay have not ever actually been called "Red Mages"."
I suggest replacing it with either a single line, or something about D&D bards. --Made2Fade 22:25, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Some of the info could actually be incorporated into the Red Wizards page. But here, a single line pointing to the main article really is enough. I don’t see what D&D bards have to do with Red Mages, though.

[edit] Accounts of Kuja and Lani being Red Mages
Let's first get this straight. Kuja and Lani are NOT Red Mages. Lani may know Fira/Blizzara/Thundara/Protect/Shell, but she is a BOUNTY HUNTER. Yes, she in a way uses magic like a Red Mage, but unless the game itself mentioned it, she is still just a magic-using Bounty Hunter. As for Kuja.....Yeah, he may know Flare/Holy/Curaga, but he also knows Flare Star (which in Final Fantasy VI, when Gau uses it, is known as BLUE Magic). Consider this also: Kuja stole Bahamut from Brahne via the Invincible, then Summoned him on Alexandria. Red Mages cannot use Blue Magic, nor can they Summon, unless they have learned it seperately. Furthermore, I have edited the Final Fantasy IX section of Red Mages.

The statement that in Final Fantasy I, Red Mages "were extremely overpowered compared to the other characters because of their ability to heal themselves and deliver decent melee damage, making them the best class" might appear to be be true for someone who never surpassed Level 5. Once you hit medium levels, the Red Mage, blessed with a brilliant mix of weak attacks and weak spells, was easily the worst character class in the game. Hooray for diversity!

- What statement? I shall fix it if it says this, but I disagree that Red Mages/Wizards are overly powerful. Instead, they are well rounded. They're NOT the most useless, but Black Belt/Master is. Why I find them very useful is because say you want a certain Black/White Spell for your other two mages but seem there's not enough space. You give it to the Red Magic user if the spell is learnable. I found them most helpful when I was casting Healaga almost all the time, and used the class to cast Protera and Invisira, as well as Haste/Temper. See where the usefulness is? You don't really need to have them know EVERY spell. It just wouldn't make them a Red Magic user but a Sage. Stop posting a biased report and start getting your information correct by exploring your game further.

[edit] Terra/Celes/Mystic Knight section
While Celes and Terra learn magic on their own, it still doesn't qualify them as Red Mages/Wizards because everyone else can learn the same stuff if you choose it. So, there weren't really any "Red Magic Users" in Final Fantasy VI. Same goes for comparing a Mystic Knight to a Red Mage. All Mystic Knights do is infuse the spell into their weapons, not actually cast it on the foe. However, if someone were to be either Mystic Knight or Red Mage for the base Job Class and have the opposite's command ability, that's where it would make sense in having them help each other out.
