Regis Canevin

John Francis Regis Canevin (1853–1927) was the fifth Roman Catholic Bishop of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born 5 June 1853 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, he was a seminarian at Saint Vincent Seminary. He was ordained a priest in Pittsburgh on 4 June 1879 and was installed as coadjutor bishop on 24 February 1903. He became the fifth bishop of Pittsburgh upon the death of Bishop Phelan in 1904. He was the first native son of the diocese to become bishop.
Canevin retired as bishop on 26 November 1920. He died 22 March 1927 and is buried in St. Mary Cemetery in the city's Lawrenceville neighborhood.
