Because of users automatically creating accounts for vandalism, Wikipedia has been forced to add an image to the login process to confirm that users are not using an automated process. Please follow the procedure carefully or your request will not be fulfilled.
- Check that the new name you want does not breach the policy on inappropriate usernames.
- Check that the username has not already been registered by searching Special:Listusers; be sure to capitalize the first letter of the username. If you do not do this, the search will fail; the English Wikipedia does not allow usernames that begin with a lowercase letter.
- Add your request to the bottom of the "current requests" section, following the format described in the big red box at the top of the page.
