Interested editors are asked to keep an eye out for any indication of Bidini and Tielli's intentions, whether they plan to release new material as Rheostatics, collaborate under a new name, or let it go and concentrate on their second careers (Tielli as a solo artist, Bidini as a writer), etc. And is Vesely concentrating on The Violet Archers now, or is he quitting music entirely? As for me, I've once or twice entertained the notion of a new Rheos lineup that brought Ford Pier and Chris Adeney into the fold, but I suppose this isn't really the place for concocting fantasy band lineups... - Well a new The Violet Archers album is set to come out soon from what I have heard. And there has been talk that Ford and someone else would be joining the band to replace the other two but Dave has said that if they continue making music it will be under another name.--Djsasso 20:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, okay. I hadn't heard that the Archers had a new album on the way. I know Ford's subbing in some of the live shows over the next few months, but I'd be curious to know if they're actually planning to work on new music with him, or are just having him fill in live. I noticed the infobox had been changed to note the end of the band. Do we know this for sure? From the official website: "After much consternation, it has been resolved that the group's March 30th, 2007 date at Massey Hall will be the last live performance for the group as they have existed for the last two-plus decades. The Rheostatics may continue to persevere in one form or another in the future, but not with their current lineup intact." I'm going revert the change unless someone can reference something confirming the end of the band. Strobilus 16:51, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I do know that the official Rheostatics mailing list has been closed down and that the band mentioned that they would likely not use the name Rheostatics for any new music. --Djsasso 19:38, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Correct - The mailing list is closed down. Also, I saw the band perform live at both the March 29 and March 30th shows in Toronto, and from the stage they repeatedly referenced the "breakup" of the band, what they would pursue "post-breakup", and never once referenced "the departure of Tim and Michael-Philip". The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) has also repeatedly reported the 'breakup' of the band - notably the Sunday Edition radio program on the morning of April 1 2007.--Rgroen 14:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- I won't revert if the change is made again, but I suggest waiting a week or two to see if the official website prints some confirmation. The body of the article indicates that Tim and Michael have left and that the band's future is up in the air, and I think that's sufficient for now. Strobilus 16:39, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Official website is actually the record company's who, I think along with Rheos fans, yearns that they continue on in some way. But it has been no secret for many months that the Rheostatics' Massey Hall show would be their last. I was at the last show and they talked all about how they were done as "Rheostatics". Bidini and Tielli will likely collaborate with Ford Pier and One Yellow Rabbit. If, in the future, there is a reunion, then the article can be amended but, as the poster for the Massey Hall show says, the Rheostatics are "Good. Gone. Dead.".
