Talk:Role of women in religion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I believe that there should be a main page (women in religion) in witch there is an overview of at least the main religions and the rights, and obligations of the woman according to these religions. From here a link may depart to "women in muslim societies" for the muslim religion.
In the Bible there are many (woman-unfriendly) passages about women, yet these are not yet discribed in wikipedia. (an example is exodus: in here it is stated that the woman is created out of the rib of a man.) It would be sad if this is not mentioned in wikipedia and if all attention is set on the muslim religion's role of the female.
I copied and pasted the above from Talk:Women in Muslim societies. --Uncle Ed 17:33, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
If the information was put in a more general format, and developed to cover some of the other areas involved it could be included as the lead in for Women as theological figures, with a redirect from this heading. Jackiespeel 11:37, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree and made the change. --Ephilei 00:21, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
This article and Women as theological figures could be combined, or the information repartitioned - mine for the lists, this article for the theoretical background. Jackiespeel 16:10, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
There's an article simply titled "Women in Religion" still floating around. I made some changes to it, but it's still a pretty terrible article- it makes sweeping statements with little evidence, citations, or support, and only deals with the topic in a very broad and general way. It should be totally rewritten, this time with specific information, or simply deleted.--Mayor Beauregard 16:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
